Safety Tips While Waiting for your Tow Truck
Being broke down is obviously stressful, however, the best thing to do when you are in this vulnerable position is to take precautions, remain calm and stay safe. Here are several basic tips to do just that. Although the problem is the vehicle the number one priority is, of course, your safety.
1.) MOVE TO THE SIDE
First thing when you notice a problem with your vehicle while driving is to pull off to the right shoulder if possible. If you are unable to pull to the right shoulder, try to get as far from oncoming traffic as possible.
2.) MAKE OTHER DRIVERS AWARE OF YOUR PRESENCE
Next, be sure you are seen by turning on your hazards.
3.) PROTECT YOURSELF
It is recommended you stay in your car if you are in a high traffic area such as on the highway where there is no safe place further from the vehicle and other oncoming traffic. This will ensure you are not susceptible to debris from the road and have some protection from other vehicles. Of course, there is an exception to this such as extremely hot temperatures that would prevent you from sitting in the vehicle and/or mechanical issues with the car such as leaking fluids. Now if you are on a road that gives you more space to step away from your vehicle and other traffic this may be the best option. Always to be sure to check your surroundings prior to getting out of your vehicle on any highway or road.
4.) KNOW WHO YOU ARE DEALING WITH
Last, but not least while waiting for your tow truck it is safest not to accept services or rides from unsolicited persons. Always wait for your requested provider and only accept service from the summoned company.
Information Requested by your Provider
There are several things required when you request your tow truck or roadside assistance. It is best to be prepared and gather as much information to provide your requested provider. This way your service can be responded to in the most efficient and fastest manner possible.
1.) WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
As your service provider, we will need a specific location of where you are located. Of course, an exact address is always preferred we understand it is not always possible to provide this information. Other good ways to provide your location would be crossroads, highways/exits or on-ramps, mile markers and/or landmarks. We also can request your location through our towing application, however, this is not always 100% accurate and any additional information on the whereabouts of your location would be appreciated in order to better serve you.
2.) WHAT TO LOOK FOR?
Of course, along with your location what to look for is next. By providing your vehicle description including year, make, model and color of your vehicle this will provide the extra details in order to find you faster as well as provide the correct service for your vehicle.
3.) WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR VEHICLE?
Although this may not always be apparent it is always helpful to offer your provider with the most accurate description of the problem with your vehicle. Such as if you have any flat tires and which ones are, they.
4.) WHO DO WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE?
Although this is listed as the last it is the most important you! We will request your name and confirm the contact number in case we need to reach out to you during the process of your service.
